Happy, Joyous and Free
The day after coming home from Onsite in Tennessee, I found myself laughing more freely
than I can remember doing in a long, long time. Whereas watching the puppy and kitten play
before treatment gave me joy and smiles, now I was letting out a big, bubbling laugh.
Feeling the pain, facing the pain and working through the pain apparently is opening me up
to the other end of the spectrum! I spontaneously said as I knelt in prayer, “I don’t
know what I’ll do if I get happy, God, but I’m willing to give happiness a chance.”
Could this be the “happy, joyous and free” I’ve been waiting for, elusive after
7 years in recovery? My eyes get teary just thinking it might be possible.
