SEA OF SALT
By Roberta S.
To masquerade the chilling wind
That smacks against this weathered soul
And tricks the mind to make it think
That all is well and in control.
The silent sadness longs for light
To shed a tear of fearless trust
Oh cold and bitter shame that sails
Upon this ship adorned in rust
To one day sail amidst the calm
And drift upon a sea of salt
Yet taste the wind of distant shores
That voyage out in aimless fault
Oh comes the scarlet sunrise shore
The sea breeze warms this traveled soul
While sorrow rests upon the tides
This ship returns unscathed and whole
With anchor strong and lowered deep
This vessel dreams with wishful tears
Of unknown shores that it will sail
Despite the wind and white cap fears
