Courage

Step 4 – Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

The
spiritual principal of this step is courage. For the longest time I
thought that I was courage impaired. I believe that if I would have had
courage in my past, my life would have been so different. I came to
this program paralyzed in fear. By working my steps and attending my
CoDA meetings I learn that courage is not absence of fear but instead
is acting in spite of fear. Fear in motion as some people call it. I
learned that I did have a lot of courage. Opening the door of my CoDA
meeting for the first time took a lot of courage. Having an open mind,
asking a person to be my sponsor and my willingness to work my steps
are a few examples of courage. I still have fear in some instances but
since I have faith and I know that god is always at my side, I can act
and be sure I’ll be fine.
